SBI CLERK – SELECTION PROCEDURE SBI Clerical selection procedure consists of three phases – Preliminary Examination, Main Examination & Interview Phase 1: Preliminary Examination Examination Pattern SL. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests. The passing marks in each of the tests will be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performance of all the competing candidates taken together in each test to a minimum required level. Candidates are also required to score a minimum percentage marks on aggregate (For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates, 5% relaxation available thereon). Minimum percentage marks on aggregate will be decided by the bank. Depending upon the number of vacancies, only certain number of candidates from amongst those who qualify by ranking high enough in the merit will be called for interview. Candidates are required to score a minimum percentage marks (to be decided by the bank) in interview to be considered for final selection. 5% relaxation for SC/ST/ OBC/PWD/XS category will be available thereon Note: Interview call letters will be uploaded on the Bank’s website after declaration of result of online test. Candidates will have to download the same from our website. No hard copy of interview call letter will be sent by post. Test of knowledge of official and/or local language Those who produce 10th standard mark sheet/certificate evidencing having studied official (local) language will not be subjected to any Language test. In case of others, language test will be conducted at the time of interview (if interview is held) /before final selection (if interview is not held). Candidates not found to be proficient in official and/or local language would be disqualified. Final Selection The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in Interview (Phase-III) (if interview is held) for preparation of the final merit list. Final selection will be made on the basis of candidate’s performance in the test (main examination) and interview (if interview is held) taken together. Results of the candidates who have qualified for Interview and the list of candidates finally selected will be made available on the Bank’s website.
SBI PO – SELECTION PROCEDURE Selection procedure consists of two phases Phase 1: Objective test & Descriptive test Phase 2: Group discussion & Interview State Bank of India’s New exam pattern consists of two exams namely Preliminary Examination & Main Examination. SBI has revised its exam pattern immediately after it started conducting Online Exams in 2014. The Detailed view of SBI’s New exam pattern is given below. Phase-I: Preliminary Examination Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 1 hour duration consisting of 3 Sections as follows: S. No Name of Section No. of Questions Marks Duration 1 English Language 30 30 Composite time of 60 minutes 2 Logical Reasoning 35 35 3 Quantitative Aptitude 35 35 Total 100 100 Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) will be short listed for the Main Examination. Phase – II: Main Examination Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered. (i) Objective Test: The Objective Test of 2 hour duration consists of 4 Sections with 50 marks each (Total 200 marks) as follows: Test of English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.) Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation Test of Reasoning (High Level) The candidates are required to qualify in each of the Tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. (ii) Descriptive Test: The Descriptive Test of 1 hour duration with 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in objective test. Phase – III: Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks) The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. Adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank. Candidates qualifying for GD & Interview under ‘OBC’ category would be required to submit OBC certificate containing the ‘Non Creamy layer’ clause. Candidates not submitting the OBC certificate containing the ‘Non Creamy layer’ clause and requesting to be interviewed under General category will not be entertained. Final Selection The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in GD & Interview (Phase-III) for preparation of the final merit list. Finally, selected list of candidates will be made available on the Bank’s website. Final select list will also be published in Employment News/Rozgar news.

English Language: Finding Errors, Comprehension, Sentence completion, Spelling error check, Synonyms and Antonyms, Choosing correct word, Fill In the blanks, Close Test, Phrase Substitution, Rearrangement of sentences. General Awareness/Marketing/Computer Knowledge: Current Affairs (National and International), Banking Knowledge, Financial and Economic News, Sports News, 5 year plan, Books and authors, Union Budget, Government schemes and Policies, Awards and Honors, Inventions and discoveries, International and National Organizations (BRICS, SAARC, IMF, World Bank, ADB), Computer Knowledge, Marketing management. (b) Descriptive Test: The descriptive Test with 1 hour duration (50 marks) will be Test of English Language (Comprehension, Short précis, Letter writing & Essay)”. Students have to write descriptive test and objective test on that same day. Descriptive test will be OFFLINE. The candidates are required to qualify Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the bank.
